Spring 2025 Update — PhDone
After nearly three decades of school, I'm finally done with my formal education!
Hey everyone! I’ve got some exciting news to share! This month, I graduated with my PhD in Biblical Studies-Biblical Theology from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO! It’s been a long journey that required quite a bit of hard work and dedication. Ten years of graduate and post-graduate studies finally came to an end, and I’m excited to see what the Lord will do with it in the future.
I wrote my dissertation on the meaning of the image of God in Genesis, and, surprisingly, I haven’t really lost interest in my topic. The day before my dissertation defense, a friend interviewed me about my dissertation for the podcast of Shepherd’s Theological Seminary. If you want to get the basic gist of my research, that’s a great place to start.
I had the privilege of working with Andreas J. Köstenberger, who was my dissertation supervisor. He was an incredible mentor, and I’m so grateful for his guidance and support throughout my academic journey. I am also thankful for Stephen Andrews (the second reader on my dissertation committee), who gave valuable feedback in the defense.
There are so many people in my life who have supported me along the way. I’m especially grateful to Kate, the elders at Resurrection Church (Josh Huber, Brian Cameron, and Steve Aldridge), and “the Brotherhood” (Shane Saxon, Tyler Holley, and Mitch Holley). They’ve been there for me through it all, and I know that I wouldn’t have made it without them.
I’m thrilled to be done with school, but I’m not done studying and writing. I’m exploring the best ways to steward the education that I’ve received, and I hope that writing on this Substack will be a small part of that. I’m excited to share my writing on this platform and hope that you’ll join me on the journey. I’ve outlined my vision for this Substack on the About page.
